The Société pour la fabrication des compteurs et matériel d'usines à gaz de Montrouge employed up to 6,000 workers and had many factories across the country. Since 1927, it has been a leader in France in the field of television with René Barthélémy.
This camera, model PC 1 (No. 008859), is designed for cathode ray oscillographs of type OC 11 and OCP 21 from the same brand. It allows for life-size signal recording. The chassis-plate can be replaced with a 6 x 9 film adapter.
The small top flap allows monitoring of the signal once the camerais in place in front of the screen. The shutter consists of two blades that open when the release button is pressed with a finger.
It is equipped with a Som Berthiot Paris Anastigmat 1:3.5 F=50 mm lens No. 382170 (Apertures 3.5, 5, 7, 10, 14), but the manual contains a handwritten correction for a lens opening to 2.9, probably an Angénieux like on the contemporary Sem Kim.
This particular unit bears a plate and an inventory number from the CNAM testing laboratory.
